HPV is a virus that can hide and spread
even without symptoms.
It may lead to cervical, vaginal, genital, anal, and throat cancers — as well as genital warts.
Both males and females can be affected. If you're between 9 and 21 years old,
this is the golden window to build the best protection.
Why Get the HPV Vaccine?
HPV (Human Papillomavirus) includes over 100 types, with around 40 strains that can affect the genital area. It is transmitted through all forms of sexual contact — vaginal, anal, and oral — and can also spread through skin-to-skin contact via cuts or lesions, and from mother to child during childbirth.
That’s why getting the HPV vaccine early — especially before the first sexual encounter — greatly enhances the effectiveness of preventing cervical cancer.
HPV can also lead to serious diseases in men, such as anal cancer and genital warts. The virus can be transmitted through contact with broken skin, even without engaging in anal intercourse. Infected males may unknowingly pass the virus to their partners. HPV vaccination for males not only protects their own health but also helps protect those they care about.
